Welcome to the 'Buena Vista' website, which is Spanish for 'Good View'

This site is where we can share details about our Selene 59, Hull #18, the build process, it's systems and our travels.
The hull lay-up started on the 16th April 2008, was completed and shipped from Zhuhai in March 2009 arriving in Bobbin Head on the Hawkesbury River in NSW on the 3rd April where she was fitted with instruments and commissioned and commenced her maiden voyage on the 14th July.

The name Buena Vista also reflects a theme built around the Buena Vista Social Club, the famous Cuban Latin Jazz Club, which fits in with our love of Jazz and particularly Latin Jazz.  The idea of the flybridge becoming our the Buena Vista Social Club appeals!!

2009, our first year, included a cruise to Port Douglas in far north Queensland for winter, followed by a trip way down south to our home port of Melbourne.

2010 started with a cruise around Tasmania in the summer months, followed by a cruise in the South Pacific to Lord Howe Island, New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

2011 has seen Buena Vista shipped to the Mediterranean for 2 or 3 years cruising around Europe.

Keep an eye on the "Where is the boat?" page to track our position and "Travel Blog"page describes some of our experiences.
